Birthday Girl

Something was tapping your forehead. Frowning you waved a hand, trying to brush it away. It stopped for a moment, then continued.

"Come on lass. I'm not lettin' ya' sleep yer birthday away."

A familiar voice rumbled. You blinked sleepily at the man next to you. His red hair was tousled, sticking up all over the place. Faint stubble covered his jaw.

"So what do ye' want for yer birthday?" He grinned, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively at you.

"That's what you would want. Besides Peter is in the next room." You pointed out.

He rolled his eyes, "Ah should get Arthur ta' babysit him tonight."
You frowned, shaking your head.

"Nope. I want to spend my Birthday with my son and Husband." You paused, reaching out to twirl a fiery lock of his hair around your finger.

"And I want a carrot cake."

He arched an eyebrow, "Ye' do realize yer talkin' to a man whose brother sets fire to cereal."

You nodded, grinning.

The sound of someone running made you look over at the door. It burst open, you six year old son Peter, running in.

"Happy Level up day Mama!" He squealed, jumping onto your bed. You laughed at his silly phrase.

"Thanks Peter." He smiled, holding out a homemade card.

"What level are you today Mama?"

Allistor reached out a hand and tousled his sons hair. "Is nae polite askin' a lady her age."

Peter pushed his hand away, giggling. "Daddy's level 29!"

"Aye." Allistor grinned, tickling his son.

"Come on, We have ta' make yer ma' a Cake." He scooped Peter up, walking out of the room.

Smiling you opened Peters card. It was a crayon drawing of you and Allistor. You grinned at the bright red spot that represented your husbands hair.

------Time skip------

"Keep your eyes closed mama!" Peter squeaked, his small hand in yours, he tugged you towards the kitchen.

"Dinnae worry Peter, Ah got her eyes covered." Allistor sounded amused, his large calloused hands covering your eyes.

"Ta-Da! You can look now!" Allistors hands dropped. Your eyes went wide with shock. It looked like a bomb had exploded in the kitchen.

And right in the middle of the mess, on the kitchen table was a small cake with white icing. It was covered in a rainbow of sprinkles.

Peter danced around you, grinning. "Do you like it Mama?!"

"Yes!" You pulled him into a hug, "It looks exactly how I imagined it."

Pulling plates out of a cabinet, Allistor cut three pieces. Peter wolfed his down in seconds flat. You and Allistor ate slowly.

"Can I watch Adventure Time?" His large eyebrows were raised with anticipation.

"Of course honey." Peter ran out of the kitchen, giggling.

"So?" Allistor grinned, licking icing off his fork. You took another bit of cake.
"It's really good."

He pretend to pout.
"Jist good? Ah'm hurt lass." Grinning, you reached out and tousled his hair.

"Fine, It's the best cake I have ever eaten."

Leaning across the table, he captured your lips with his. You smiled into the kiss. He pulled away, a saucy grin perched upon his lips.

"Wha'?"
Your grin grew. Standing up, you began walking towards the stairs.

"You still have to clean the kitchen."

He gaped after you. "But lass!!!"
